For the AY 2023-24, the PhD student population comprises 79 students from 21 countries, with 57% being females, making INSEAD perhaps the most international PhD Programme in the world, with an increasing number of women joining a doctoral programme. In addition, our students have a high level of written and oral English fluency, though few can count it as their native language. Our programme's diversity provides our students unparalleled opportunities for learning and growth, both as future academics and individuals.

We accept a wide range of scores in our applications for the GMAT or GRE test, and we do not have a cut-off score or preference. Thus, we encourage all interested prospects to submit their application, regardless of the standardised test score.

There is no age limit when accepting applicants and candidates to the programme. Moreover, there is a broad range within the classes, ranging from experienced professionals to recent graduates in undergraduate or master's, with some or little formal research experience.

INSEAD PhD students have the unique intellect, creativity, motivation and drive needed to master research as a craft and a shared goal to become the next generation of thought leaders and professors in top educational institutions worldwide.

Our students come from all academic backgrounds, not just business. Entrants range from fresh university graduates with only a bachelor's or a master's with little industry experience to professionals with several years of industry work. The average age of incoming students over the last three years is 29, though there is a broad range within the classes.

Although we do not have any cut-off score for the GMAT or GRE, we usually receive applications with at least 700 GMAT total scores or 165 and above for the GRE quantitative scores.

Our students have high written and oral English fluency, even though several can count it as their native language.

We are also proud to mention that an increasing number of women are applying and joining the programme, averaging between 50 - 60% over the last three years.

INSEAD PhD students have the unique combination of intellect, creativity, motivation, and drive needed to master research as a craft, coupled with a shared goal to become the next generation of thought leaders and professors in leading academic institutions worldwide.
